Japanese Shiatsu Massage
Japanese Shiatsu Massage
To understand the origins of nuru and soapy massage you can look into other Japanese invented styles such as Shiatsu.
Shiatsu massage was developed in Japan, over 2,000 years ago, and is a form of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). The massage strokes and manipulation techniques of Shiatsu concentrate on the body's 12 vital energy channels (known as ‘meridians’), and uses stimulation to release any stagnant or blocked energy. When the energy, or qi (pronounced chee), is unblocked the body is able to heal itself.
Shiatsu massage can be erotically deep or light as a feather in touch, and can remove stress and tension, or encourage enhanced relaxation. Working on a physical, emotional and spiritual level.
Shiatsu raises awareness of the way in which all aspects of the human body are connected. Tension in the muscles or poor posture reflects emotional issues, and can be supported by bodywork and touch.
Go With The Flow
The meridians are rather like a system of 'rivers' that allows qi to flow freely throughout the body. If the energy channels are blocked illness and health problems can occur. Shiatsu massage combines touch and gentle pressure point stimulation to encourage free energy flow.
Yin and Yang
The 12 key meridians in the body are each linked to an organ or function within the body. Six of these energy channels represent feminine ‘yin’, and the remaining six represent the masculine ‘yang’.
Yin and yang have distinctive characteristics that revolve around balance. Shiatsu massage promotes physical and emotional healing that can help ease anxiety, lower stress levels, improve sleep, boost the circulatory and digestive systems, release muscle tension and cramps, and re-balance natural qi.
